Blue table - one of the samples of Georgian traditional table, which was spread mainly in Eastern Georgia. It was made in Tbilisi, Gori, and Telavi workshops. The artistic motifs of the blue table were diverse.
In such traditional elements of artistic ornament as astral and plant motifs, zoomorphic and anthropomorphic faces, the ideas related to the ancient worldview of the Georgian people are reflected in their own way. Among the household motifs of the blue table, it is worth noting the table attributes: knife, fork, spoon, as well as images of dancing men and mandilosas dressed in Georgian dress and chokha-akhalukh.
In the 19th century, the blue table was widespread among the population of Tbilisi, especially in the feasts and wedding parties related to various days of the citizens. In Mtianeti (Mtiuleti) of Eastern Georgia, narrow and long blue tables were preserved until the recent past, which were intended for ceremonial bread on community days. A remarkable collection of blue tablecloths in the 18th-19th centuries is preserved in the funds of the State Museum of Georgia.
