On August 20, a grand concert by Vera Brezhneva, a former member of the group “VIA Gra”, a famous Ukrainian singer and actress, will be held at the Batumi Tennis Courts.
Vera Brezhneva is a famous Ukrainian singer, actress and TV presenter, who has made a name for herself as one of the most outstanding pop singers in Eastern Europe. Her musical career began in 2002, when she was spotted at a concert and invited to join the phenomenally successful Ukrainian girl group VIA Gra. Installed as the lead vocalist by the producers and given a new stage name, Vera became part of what fans called the group's "golden era"; she participated in the recording of such leading, chart-topping albums as Stop! Snyato! and Biologiya (2003), firmly establishing her status as a mainstream star and cultural sex symbol before leaving the group in 2007.
After a successful solo career, she achieved major commercial success with her debut solo album Lyubov spasyot mir (2010) – a mega-hit of the same name and the famous duet with Dan Balan “Lepestkami slyoz” – which earned her several Golden Gramophone awards, followed by her second album VERVERA in 2015. Outside of music, she has had a prolific career as a TV presenter and actress, starring in box-office hits such as the romantic comedies Love in the Big City and Yolki, while also channeling her influence into humanitarian work, becoming a UN Goodwill Ambassador in 2011 (for the UNAIDS program).
After the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Brezhneva finally severed ties with Russian show business, left Russia, and devoted all her attention to her homeland; she shortened her stage name to Vira and switched entirely to releasing Ukrainian-language music, which she marked with the 2022 joint single “Vyshyvanka” and the 2023 emotional EP Dyakuyu (“Thank You”). Remaining a symbol of resilience and versatility in pop culture, the singer continues to release new singles (such as “Ty”), conduct international tours, and combine her musical transformation with an active public platform.
