Spring in Georgia with a special holiday, "With Batumi"<\/strong>, is rising. April 28, recognized as Batumi Day, is one of the most important dates in the city's history, as it was on this day in 1888 that Batumi was officially granted city status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Batumi has a 2,500-year history, but this day gained special significance in 1885, when 90 residents of the city wrote to the head of the Civil Division of the Caucasus, requesting that Batumi be granted city status. Three years later, this request was granted, and Batumi was officially declared a city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initially, this holiday was celebrated in May, then in September, but later its date was moved to April 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
